Welcome to the Segway Enthusiasts Group - America, the official national organization for enthusiasts and owners of the Segway® Human Transporter (HT)!We are an independent, national organization that can help bring together Segway HT owners and enthusiasts across the country as we share our interest in the Segway HT. SEG America is run by its members for its members. Our primary goal is to act as a tool to enable Segway enthusiasts to share information and experiences with each other and to move forward the concept of the Segway HT as new mode of transportation.

SEG America Announces
Changes to the Executive Board

October 27th, 2006

Jonathan Gleich has decided to resign from his Vice President position on the Executive Board for personal reasons. The Executive Board has accepted his resignation effective 10/25/2006. The Executive Board and the membership of SEG America thank Jonathan for his enthusiasm and dedication to SEG America and the 2006 SegwayFest.

The Executive Board of SEG America is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Kelford to the Executive Board as the Local Group Coordinator. Carolyn was a great help to us with the SegwayFest in Long Beach. We look forward to Carolyn’s input to the Executive Board and her work to help the local groups get organized and have lots of local events.

Throughout the day, there will be Segway software upgrades, vendors in the foyer, test glides on the all of the Segway models, etc. Some of the topics to be covered and activities for the day include:

  • Opening Remarks by Steve Wozniak, author of the new book, “iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon: How I Invented the Personal Computer, Co-Founded Apple, and Had Fun Doing It”. We’ll have copies of his book available for purchase and Woz has agreed to autograph the books

  • Spectacular Glide to famous sites in the LA, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and the Miracle Mile! Eat & shop at the Grove. See and glide Grauman’s Chinese Theatre – Hollywood Walk of Fame – Sunset Strip – Farmers Market and the Grove – Petersen Auto Museum – Greystone Mansion and Beverly Hills – La Brea Tar Pits. We are arranging for pace/chase vehicles for those who do not want to seg the whole trip…!

Rentals: All three local dealers will be providing rentals.

DRAFT to host dinner honoring Dean Kamen on Thursday, October 12
Although not part of the SegwayFest, there will be a DRAFT Fundraising dinner event on Thursday. Disability Rights Advocates for Technology (DRAFT) and Mr. Noel Lee, Headmonster of Monster Cable will host a dinner on Thursday, October 12 at the Los Angeles Universal City Hilton Hotel to honor Dean Kamen creator of the iBOT mobility system for his role in improving the quality of lives of people with disabilities.
